Coffee Mugs

Coffee mugs are mugs intended for serving coffee. They come with handle and are usually cylindrical. The purpose of a good coffee mug in not only to hold coffee for drinking, but to keep the coffee hot for the longest possible period of time.

Coffee mugs are made from many materials: Acrylic, plastic, ceramic, stainless steel and glass to name the most popular. Additionally, many shapes and sizes are made to fit the needs of the vast coffee drinking population. The size, material and shape variables create an endless array of possibilities for coffee drinkers to choose from.

Porcelain or ceramic coffee mugs hold heat for a longer time, and can be beautifully decorated, making them a suitable choice for serving guests. But, porcelain is fragile and these coffee mugs normally do not come with tops to keep the coffee from spilling.

One of those places that coffee is often enjoyed is in the vehicle that we drive. Thankfully, car manufacturers have begun to recognize the need for better designed coffee mugs and cup holders, so that coffee can travel along with us safely while on the road.

Stainless steel and plastic are commonly used together to make hybrid coffee mugs. A stainless steel outer cup lined with plastic is quite common. These mugs have the benefit of lids that sport a drinking spout or hole, making them spill and break-resistant. The lids also trap heat and some coffee mugs of this type are insulated to maintain heat even longer. This type of coffee mug is normally referred to as a traveling cup.

The shape and size of the mug is also important. Most mugs are no smaller than 12 ounces, which is the size of soda can, and a standard serving size for beverages. Some coffee mugs are made to accommodate much larger amounts of coffee or tea. Many people drink several servings of coffee per day. Instead of frequent refilling, a larger mug can be used. Therefore, coffee mugs range in capacity from 12-20 ounces.

Irrespective of size, shape or material, coffee mugs made today keep your needs in mind. Whether you want the exquisiteness of finely made porcelain or glass mug, or the sturdiness of stainless steel and plastic, your needs and the needs of many millions of coffee drinkers are well-met.
